Elmhurst, Ill. - South Dakota State running back Cory Koenig was named to the ESPN The Magazine 2007 Academic All-American first team for the second year in a row, it was announced today, one of four Great West student-athletes to be named to the first or second teams . Also on the first team was North Dakota State running back Tyler Roehl, who makes his first appearance at the national level.
Named to the second team were South Dakota State kicker Parker Douglass and North Dakota State wide receiver Kole Heckendorf. Douglass was also a second-team academic all-American last season. Of the 50 players earning recognition from ESPN at the University Division, the Great West had four of the 16 members of the first or second team that play at the Football Championship Subdivision level.
